After months of OVERVALUING empty international business class seats, airlines spent most of the fall slashing fares to $500 r.t.+ taxes on over 1000 routes. It only took six weeks, but airlines FINALLY filled half of their empty and previously OVERVALUED premium cabin seats through MASSIVE fare cuts, and the $500 fares have come to an end for now.
Now what? If you missed the most recent events, don’t worry! You’ll get your chance to fly comfortably and save in 2024. Since 2010, future dated international business fares have been at their peak in January and soften as the year progresses. Why? Airlines insist on testing flyers with excessive fares their sales data reveal most travelers never pay. A few price-insensitive (and obviously unsavvy) flyers may buy early and OVERPAY, but not enough to fill business class cabins across all departures.
The first Biz Class Buying Events of 2023 were detected in March on a handful of routes (i.e. Boston-London, Dallas Berlin etc.). Just two months later, biz fares were slashed to just $500 r.t. + taxes on over 1000 routes for the summer travel season, an occurrence that repeated in October for the holiday travel season. Though the precise timing of Biz Class Buying Events CAN’T be predicted, their existence and likelihood of repeating is a well-defined trend that’s been in place for over a decade. If you’re planning on traveling in 2024, get ready to fly in comfort while SAVE BIG!
Passport Premiere projects the first Biz Class Buying Events of 2024 will emerge early spring but could always be sooner. Remember, a 50-day advance purchase is usually required to access Biz Class Buying Events from the U.S. If you’re contemplating international travel before March, route specific Buying Events are in effect on select routes as well as Euro origination strategies shown below.

How are U.S. and European airlines filling their most comfortable transatlantic seats? Widespread SEATS DUMPS in Europe while price gouging U.S. flyers for the same seat in the reverse direction. In other words, “same as it ever was!” After 3 months of rampant BIZ CLASS fare cuts from several U.S. cities (i.e. LAX-GVA for $500sh + taxes/fees), carriers have achieved their objective of filling over 50% of their premium cabin inventory for the summer/early fall transatlantic travel season. Like The Produce and Bialystock & Bloom, airlines typically sell more tickets than seats. Now, they’re back to their age-old playbook of juicing BIZ fares on the remaining seats from the U.S. while simultaneously slashing prices from Europe.
For over a decade, savvy travelers have beaten airlines at their own game by commencing a pattern of Euro originations and SAVING BIG! Advantages of originating a BIZ class ticket in Europe include:
CHEAPER - Biz fares from Europe up to 90% less compared with the same seat originated in the U.S.
LENIENCY - Fewer restrictions and more lenient booking terms, including advance purchase reduced to just 7 days from certain Euro cities compared with 28-60 days from most U.S. cities.
LOWER TAXES & FEES - The secretive and ill explained “airline-imposed fee” is up to 70% LESS when travel originates in Europe (see below)
FLEXIBILITY - Not only CHEAPER, but you’ll always have a ticket at your disposal back to Europe valid up to 1 year from the initial purchase date. |

Not Only Deceptive, Its UNPATRIOTIC!
|
|
Are Philly-Amsterdam BIZ class seats REALLY 290% more valuable compared with the same seat originated in Holland? NOOOOO! Airlines like American spin this phenomenon a thousand different ways, but the explanation is simple. They’re fixated on manipulating U.S. flyers into overpaying, though fewer than 20% do, while simultaneously DUMPING EMPTY seats in Europe at BIG SAVINGS. U.S. airlines prefer holding out for a few price-insensitive travelers rather than offering balanced pricing for everyone. Ironically, Europe originated fares are rarely 290%+ HIGHER compared with U.S. origins. When your name is American Airlines, asking U.S. flyers to OVERPAY by 290% is not only deceptive, its UNPATRIOTIC!

Taxes/Airline fees CHEAPER from Europe!
|
|
Check out the screenshots below. Carrier imposed fees and fuel charges on business class travel originated in the U.S. are $1,600 round-trip, but just $547.60 round trip from Europe? YESSSS and OUCH! Just another example of U.S. airlines slapping U.S. flyers in the face.

JetBlue Slashes Biz to LHR/CDG
JetBlue continues to lure One World, Skyteam and Star Alliance flyers to London and now Paris by aggressively discounting BIZ CLASS seats from select U.S. cities. On May 1st, Passport Premiere initially detected and reported $56 BIZ fares to Amsterdam. Though the Amsterdam fares have been withdrawn, BIZ fares to London Heathrow, Gatwick and now Paris CDG from just $99 r.t. + taxes are in effect for travel through 2024. JetBlue’s entrance into the New York-London/ Boston-London market has forced legacy carriers to match fares tied to JetBlue’s availability, a trend that’s likely to continue. Keep in mind that JetBlue flights are equipped with just 18 business seats compared to over 50 on most AA/BA operated flights. Once JetBlue fills 50% of its business seats on any given flight, pricing is likely to rise both on JetBlue and its competitors.
